A few years ago, my family and I experienced four back-to-back hurricanes beyond our wildest dreams. Never in our lives did we know that a disaster could cause such sadness and anger. With a bit of luck, most people had evacuated the area. I, unlike everyone else, lacked the funds to go anywhere or leave the area. The first night we ate well. By the end of the second day, we had no electric, no water, and the food was beginning to spoil. By the end of the week, the children were crying and tempers were flaring because we had literally NOTHING to eat. The only place we could find open was a local Target Store across town. When we arrived, everyone else who decided to remain in place was there. After a four hour wait, we left with two large drinks and three hot dogs for the kids. The local Red Cross was the same way. A six hour wait and two prepared meals that we divided and ate on for two days.
